A good starting point if you are thinking of applying for finance whether as a private individual or as a business is to check your credit score.
The full report will give you an overview of what the lenders can see. You will also have the opportunity to ensure the data recorded is correct.
The three main credit scoring agencies in the UK are Equifax, Experian and Callcredit.
Do be aware, different lenders have their own standards and policies built into their inhouse systems for rating credit scores, however, if you have a good score with one of the main credit reporting agencies, it’s more likely you’ll have a good credit score with your lender.
A good credit score with:
Callcredit is scoring 4 out of 5
Equifax is scoring over 420 out of 700
Experian is scoring over 880 out of 999.
But always remember: your credit score doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be approved for credit or offered the lowest interest rates. This is because a lender’s decision is not made solely on the credit score but it is a good starting point 😊
